Cardiac Progenitor cells (CPCs) are resident stem cells of the heart. Preclinical and Clinical studies provide evidence towards a beneficial role of CPCs for improvement of cardiac structure and function. The goal of this project;

• Understand the basic molecular and cellular function of CPCs isolated and expanded in culture from mouse and human hearts

• Determine the effect of age and disease on CPC morphological and functional characteristics.

• Finally, we are currently developing strategies to enhances CPC based therapies to overcome limitations and challenges to
